Broken Hearted: Our “Run Team” Volunteer Coordinator Dies in Tragic Accident

It is with a very heavy heart that I announce the unexpected and tragic loss of our valuable, caring, loving, supportive, crazy and funny Run4Hope Volunteer Coordinator….Mrs. Nickie Lac.

The information concerning the loss of Nickie is heart wrenching and limited. It is my understanding that she was in a tragic accident while leading a group of Boy Scouts which included her son from Troop 121 during a storm in Canada. News media is also reporting that a young man also died as a result of the severe weather.

Please keep her husband Ricky and their four children Brayden, Eli, Noah, and Brooke in your prayers. In the coming days I hope to know more how we can help her family as they begin to know life without her presence.

Nickie attended First Church in Carrollton, where we and many Hope4Harper supporters and volunteers are also members. An email from the church noted that Nickie was “a constant presence in Scouts and in our church family.” She was also one of the leaders of Harper’s Sunday School class on the last day Harper attended church.  We were both so proud of Harper for sitting assisted in a big kid chair at the table with the rest of her class.

Hope4Harper and Run4Hope could not exist without the team of people that have supported me both emotionally and with their valuable time. Nickie was a beautiful, happy, energetic force behind our Run4Hope volunteers which included her son’s Boy Scout Troop.  It is hard to put into words the shock and sadness I feel for her loss and for her husband and children.
