LEGAL seizure relief in our home state
In the recent issue of People Magazine there is a great story of how Medical Marijuana, specifically the breed Charlottes Web, has changed the lives of many. The article also addresses the flock of people who are uprooting their lives looking for a sense of relief from the pain and daily medical struggles their families face. I want to share with you our story of seizure relief and improved function without having to leave our family support system or wait for legalization of Marijuana in our home state of Texas.
HEMP at HOME!
Our almost 4-year-old daughter, Harper Howard, has been using Marijuana’s LEGAL counterpart, High CBD HEMP, for six months. After playing with dosing we feel Harper is finally in a good place. Where she once had 40+ seizures per day (according to Video EEGs), she now goes days and sometimes weeks at a time with no visible seizures.
Harper suffers from a rare, non hereditary, life-threatening genetic disorder known as CDKL5 Disorder which carries with it early onset of impossible to control seizures; gastrointestinal, cardiological, bone, and metabolic issues along with severe physical and mental developmental delays.
Moving away from our family support system and trapping ourselves in a state for the purpose of trying Medical Marijuana (MMJ) in an attempt to gain some aspect of control over Harper’s debilitating seizures was not a viable option for our family, just as it is not for many other families. For even if we were to gain seizure control through the use of Charlottes Web, we would still have a child with CDKL5 that needs special attention.
In order to provide that attention to Harper we need the support of our surrounding friends, family, and community that has helped us since her diagnosis. We have doctors that help us manage the care of this disorder located outside of legalized states and our ability to continue working with them or the specialized clinics being developed to help facilitate care for CDKL5 families would not be an option should we move to a state where MMJ were legal.
It is not just about obtaining the supplement of MMJ for your child but the complete lifestyle change that goes with it.
Luckily, we were able to find Industrial Hemp which is legal in all 50 states and many countries. It has provided Harper relief from her debilitating seizures and allowed her development to improve. We recently decided to make our wish of a family vacation not centered around doctor visits come true by taking the girls, with the help of many friends and family, to Disney World in Orlando Florida. We were able to travel throughout the airport without issue with Harper’s Industrial Hemp Oil and continue the use of this product during our trip. This is not the first time we have successfully traveled with Harper’s hemp.
Sadly, upon return Harper fell ill as it is still a difficult time of year for her and we found ourselves hospitalized. During our hospital stay we were encouraged to continue the use of Industrial Hemp supplementation for Harper’s seizure control.

HIGH CBD HEMP OIL DOSING FOR HARPER:
There is not any real instruction for dosing this supplement. Remember it is NOT A MEDICATION with risk of overdose. The necessary dose of this supplement varies depending on your medical issue, weight, body chemistry, and other medications/supplements being taken. Some require more while others do better with less. I urge you not to let dosing scare you or deter you from the product. It is a process that takes time. It took us six months of playing with the dosage of this product to find what works for Harper. And, as she grows that dosing may or may not change.
Harper currently takes 5 drops of the “Gold” Hemp Oil from HempMedsPx in the morning and at mid-day. We do give this with Harper’s other supplements and the anti seizure medication of Depakote. Her night dose of Industrial Hemp comes from the “Black” oil product by HempMedsPx and we give between a ½” to 1″ strip of paste with her night time medications/supplements.
We have found that as of right now with this dosing Harper goes multiple days without a seizure. In our experimentation I personally do not find for Harper using the Hemp Oil as a rescue drug of sorts to be beneficial. But rather building up the dose of CBD in her system slowly over time and keeping a constant supply of it in her system is the most beneficial to her seizure control. At the time of this writing, Harper has been NINE DAYS seizure FREE.
