Ta-Da!! LOOK WHAT CAME TODAY!!!

Thank You to a friend who reminded us our state congressman could be of great value.  With the help of Representative Ron Simmons office, Medicaid was forced to abide by their protocol.  The rule is they must request additional information -or- provide an answer to us within a certain time frame (which was beyond exceeded).

Medicaid had been giving us the run around on the “official” decision on Harper’s  eye gaze communication device. You can read about it in our blog post “Losing Her Voice: Medicaid Denies Communication Device“.  This delay left Harper without a communication device for nearly a year.

Now Harper has her eye gaze device but…

The struggle is not yet over!  Medicaid approved this device for a two month period.  In 30 days we are to submit progress notes.  At that point Medicaid can either extend their approval process by requesting MORE paperwork,  finalize their approval making the device officially Harper’s, or take it away should she not show adequate progress.

Thanks to our local Representative’s office we now have a direct contact with Medicaid regarding this device.  Our contact has assured us that if Harper’s notes show progress she will make sure the device is NOT TAKEN from Harper!  Now I just need to convince this stubborn little 4-year-old to cooperate and do what I know she can do. She  has done it many times before!
